Appointments

The firm is pleased to announce that shareholder Candace C. Figa has been appointed by the Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners to serve on the Ethics Committee as a representative for Commissioner Nancy Sharpe.

 

Speaking Engagements

Herrick K. Lidstone, Jr., author of the “Securities Law Deskbook” (www.bradfordpublishing.com), will present “Securities Law in Brief” at the ABA’s 2011 GP/Solo Fall Meeting & National Solo and Small Firm Conference (NSSFC) October 20-22, 2011 in Denver.

Herrick K. Lidstone, Jr., will discuss several current securities law cases at the next Mergers and Acquisitions subsection of the CBA Business Law Section breakfast to be held at 8:00 a.m. on November 1, 2011.

Scott A. Clark will be making a legal ethics presentation to the Colorado Hazardous Waste Management Society on November 8.

Alexander R. Rothrock and Julie M. Behrman will be presenting on ethical issues involving multijurisdictional practice, medical marijuana, and other current trends and topics at the Colorado Bar Association’s Fall Real Estate Update CLE.

Susan M. Gamel (Chief Operating Officer) will be a featured speaker at the Association of Legal Administrators’ Professional Law Management Week Mile High Educational Summit in October at the Denver Sturm College of Law on the topic of contract negotiation.

 

Honors and Recognitions

J. Kemper Will , Herrick K. Lidstone, Jr., and Stephen H. Leonhardt were recently selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2012 in the field(s) of Environmental Law and Environmental Litigation, Securities Regulation, and Water Law, respectively (Copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.).

The firm is pleased to formally announce that Dana L. Eismeier became sole chair of the litigation department this year, and that Matthew B. Dillman became chair of the firm’s Real Estate department.

 

Our People

Raul Chacon, Jr. recently joined the firm and will practice primarily in the area of commercial litigation.

Sara Van Deusen has joined the firm and will practice primarily in the area of commercial litigation.

 

In the Community

On July 25th Bernie Gehris completed his 12th Courage Classic bike ride, an annual Children’s Hospital fundraiser. This 3-day-157 mile ride is based in Copper Mountain, and features climbs over Tennessee Pass, Vail Pass and Fremont Pass. All funds raised by his 213 rider Wheels of Justice team are given directly to the Hospital’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. This year’s team produced over $290,000 in donations for the Cancer Center.

Herrick K. Lidstone, Jr. recently participated in the closing bell ceremonies at the New York Stock Exchange along with representatives of Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp., at which Herrick is a member of the board of directors. Kodiak (KOG) started trading on the NYSE on August 4, 2011, having been listed on the NYSE-Amex previously.
